The Peak Zone Tourbillon Watch Launch Event

Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair 2025 opened with a momentous occasion, as Memorigin collaborated with world No.1 in Women’s Kata, Hong Kong karate athlete Grace Lau, and her training partner, U.S. karate athlete Ariel Torres, to unveil the Peak-Zone Tourbillon Series — a collection dedicated to the spirit of karate.

The timepiece is offered in two versions: PVD-coated black stainless steel, named The Peak, symbolizing athletes reaching the pinnacle of their abilities; and rose-gold plated, named The Zone, representing the transcendent state where athletes surpass their limits and perform beyond the ordinary. Both Grace and Ariel hope the watch will serve as a reminder to cherish time, commit to daily training, and pursue one’s goals and dreams with unwavering dedication.

Inspired by the dojo, the dial’s periphery is adorned with wood-grain engravings, seamlessly incorporating elements of tatami and belts. Five gemstones — blue, yellow, black, green, and red — rest atop the dial, embodying every athlete’s ambition: the spirit of excellence and the pursuit of glory on the international stage.

Grace also presented her bespoke gold-trimmed karate gi, created to celebrate her Karate 1 Premier League championship, and shared its profound meaning with guests — offering a glimpse into the resilience, discipline, and honor behind an athlete’s success.

The watch is equipped with a day/night indicator and a power reserve display. Grace expressed her fondness for the golden day/night indicator, remarking: “Every day when we step into the dojo, we see the sun, but by the time training ends, it is already nightfall. The golden indicator represents our relentless efforts, driving us closer to the gold medal.” Engraved upon it is Ariel’s personal motto — “Let’s make it happen” — encouraging wearers to embrace a positive mindset and accomplish their goals.

The power reserve indicator is adorned with a scales motif, symbolizing the equilibrium essential to karate — balancing strength, speed, rhythm, and aesthetics. Beyond the dojo, it also reflects life itself: athletes must dedicate time to training while learning to balance victories, defeats, and the challenges of existence.

The watch is also equipped with a tourbillon movement composed of 193 subassembly modules and 27 jewels, delivering an 80-hour power reserve while operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour—ensuring exceptional precision and stability. The tourbillon at 6 o’clock stands as a testament to the pinnacle of watchmaking craftsmanship, mirroring the spirit of athletes who continually push their limits in pursuit of excellence. More than just a fashion accessory, the Peak-Zone Tourbillon stands as a tribute to the resilience, perseverance, and unwavering focus of karate athletes, capturing the very essence of dedication and mastery.

Furthermore, a portion of the proceeds from every Peak-Zone Tourbillon watch sold will be donated to the charity GreenFeet18, supporting underprivileged families in Hong Kong and children in African slum schools — uniting compassion with dreams. During the launch event, Amanda Lai, founder of GreenFeet18, presented a certificate of appreciation to Memorigin director Rachel, Grace Lau, and Ariel Torres, in recognition of their meaningful contributions to the charitable initiative.
