Heroine Tourbillon Watch Launch

At the 2026 Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, Memorigin unveiled the new “Heroine” Tourbillon Watch, created in collaboration with Wai's Mask Illusion Entertainment Company, uniting the traditional art of Sichuan Opera face-changing with the precision of tourbillon watchmaking. Marking the 20th anniversary of Wai's Mask Illusion Entertainment Company, Hathor Wai, Hong Kong’s first female Sichuan Opera face-changing performer, also graced the occasion, opening the launch with a captivating face-changing performance.

With a longstanding dedication to bringing Eastern culture and Western watchmaking together, Memorigin takes inspiration from the spirit of “Heroine” to honour women who dare to challenge conventions, pursue their individuality and embrace challenges without hesitation. Both Sichuan Opera face-changing and tourbillon watchmaking demand precision, focus and perseverance. Their encounter on the wrist creates a distinctive dialogue between two seemingly different forms of craftsmanship, bringing together cultural heritage and contemporary watchmaking.

The timepiece centres on an openworked Sichuan Opera mask dial, engraved with the Chinese characters for “巾幗英雄.” The hour hand takes the form of an elegant woman, while the minute hand transforms into a finely crafted sword. When the two hands align precisely at the hour, they symbolise “the unity of human and sword,” expressing the harmonious balance between feminine grace and strength. A flying tourbillon movement, complemented by a transparent caseback, further reveals the beauty of mechanical watchmaking, while a quick-release strap system brings added versatility for everyday wear.

Beyond carrying culture on the wrist, the timepiece also carries a meaningful commitment to the community. For every “Heroine” Tourbillon Watch sold, Memorigin and Wai’s Mask Illusion Entertainment Company will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Wong Tai Sin District Child Adolescent Development Fund, supporting children in the community through a diverse range of arts and cultural activities, allowing both cultural heritage and care to be carried forward.

From the stage of face-changing artistry to the intimate canvas of the wrist, Memorigin hopes to bring precious Eastern cultural heritage into the present, allowing its artistry and spirit to continue to flourish through the language of watchmaking.
