60 Years of Uniting for Dreams Tourbillon Watch
Posted by Memorigin on

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Hong Chi Association, the renowned Hong Kong tourbillon watch brand Memorigin partnered with the Association to organize the “Memorigin x Hong Chi Association — 60 Years of Uniting for Dreams Tourbillon Watch Dial Design Competition.” The initiative was conceived to raise awareness and foster greater support for individuals with special needs. Through this meaningful competition, Memorigin hoped to deepen public understanding of the Association’s mission while inspiring participants to express themselves and showcase their creativity and talents.
The event drew the participation of 110 students, members, and alumni of the Hong Chi Association. Ultimately, the winning design—Happy Land—was created by Cheung Ki Chun, a student of Hong Chi Winifred Mary Cheung Morninghope School. In her painting, Cheung conveyed her emotions through a rich variety of motifs —stars, the sun, clouds, flora, insects, and smiling faces in different shapes—delicately linked by soft pink tones and dotted lines. Upon closer inspection, 60 hidden smiling faces can be discovered, intricately woven into the composition. These details encapsulate her joyful school life, reflecting the care of teachers, the camaraderie of classmates, and her heartfelt feelings—serving both as the creative inspiration for Happy Land and as a tribute to the Hong Chi Association’s 60th anniversary.
Memorigin has transformed the award-winning artwork into the dial of a tourbillon timepiece, bringing the creative vision to life in the “60 Years of Uniting for Dreams” Tourbillon Watch. The timepiece is powered by a tourbillon movement composed of 155 components and 18 jewels, delivering a 40-hour power reserve and operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour for exceptional precision. The tourbillon, positioned at 6 o’clock, rotates continuously—symbolizing the Hong Chi Association’s unwavering commitment to serving individuals with intellectual disabilities, and to providing special education, training, and rehabilitation services without end.
As a Hong Kong brand devoted to social responsibility, Memorigin’s collaboration with the Hong Chi Association transcended artistic exchange— it stands as a testament to the pursuit of equality and inclusivity. The project highlights the remarkable potential of Hong Chi’s members while challenging societal stereotypes surrounding individuals with special needs. A portion of the proceeds from the “60 Years of Uniting for Dreams” Tourbillon Watch will be donated to the Association, funding vital services for people of all ages and varying degrees of intellectual disabilities, adding profound meaning to this exceptional partnership.
